NZCEL in collaboration with Design Group Stapleton Elliot Architects provided a fresh lease on life for an old 1930s earthquake prone building in the heart of Wellington.
The five-storey building has been turned into a modern apartment building that achieves a new seismic rating of 80% of the New Building Standard (NBS). Through clever structural analysis and design, the strengthening work was minimal and is virtually invisible in the completed structure, following NZCEL’s philosophy of adding value, not cost.
