Martin is an experienced structural drafter and has been in the industry for the past 25 years, and he has been a structural drafter for the past 11 years. He comes from an architectural background and has an architectural diploma in drafting. He enjoys doing the graphic side of things in the shape of 3D models and animations.
The new building has seven storeys populated by 10 new apartments per storey. The apartments have skewed balconies to face north; both for views over the city and to improve daylighting. The ground floor houses the foyer, bike storage and 4no. apartments on the east side. The primary structural system is a two-way moment resisting frame, of 6 bays by 3 bays. Floors are steel/concrete composite decking The columns are fixed at their base, connecting to a wide concrete ground beam foundation

This new structure is a 2-storey lightweight structure extending occupying approximately half the width of the lane for almost its entire length, except the front suspended balcony/canopy which extends full width. Steel UB portal frames supporting secondary steel UB beams with suspended plywood floor on timber joists on secondary steel UB beams, which are simply supported or cantilevering.
